Christ Point Values

Prayer. As believers, we are the beloved children of a loving Father. Jesus granted us unlimited access to experience God through prayer and demonstrated his constant reliance on his Father. Recognizing our complete and utter dependence on God, we desire that prayer permeate the Christ Point community. We strive to be a body that expresses effusive praise and thanksgiving to God, a church that seeks God for His direction, provision, and protection. We want to be a church that prays together, intercedes on behalf of others, and implores him for His power to become all that He wants us to be and to accomplish all He has for us to do.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.

Jeremiah 29:12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

James 5:16,17 … the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

Generosity. “What do you have that you did not receive?” (I Cor 4:7) Grace is a gift, something we can’t earn. Since we have been the recipients of such generosity from God, we desire to extend that grace to others by exhibiting a generous spirit in our dealings, in our giving and as we meet pressing needs.

I Corinthians 9:7 For God loves a cheerful giver

Matthew 6:19-21 do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…

Removing barriers. Acts 6 reports, that in the early church, certain widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food. The apostles chose seven people to address this issue. The scripture reports that after this, the church resumed its growth. Similarly, Christ Point desires to address those barriers within our body that hinder our ability to accomplish the vision God has given.

Acts 6:1-3, 6

I Corinthians 9:22 to the weak I became weak. I have become all things to all people …

Leadership development. We see in the scriptures, in the life of Moses, Jesus, Paul and others, the practice of developing leaders who share the responsibility of leadership to carry out God’s vision. Within the Christ Point community, there exists men and women that demonstrate leadership character and skill and others that will develop into leaders. Therefore, at Christ Point, we will endeavor to identify and develop leadership within the body to carry out the vision God has given, leaders who lead volunteer teams.

Romans 12:6, 8 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them … the one who leads with zeal…

2 Timothy 2:2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

Matthew 24:45-47 A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns.

Relationships. Because we are loved by God, we have been set free to love others.  At Christ Point, we desire to build and sustain authentic relationships. We desire relationships that do not fade when crisis and conflicts arise, but rather are strengthened as we share joys and challenges and resolve conflict through biblical means.

Philippians 1:8 For God is my witness how I long for you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

I John 4:7,8  Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God and whoevers loves has been born of God and knows God, anyone who does not love does not know God for God is love.

Strategic Partnership. We recognize that many people possess expertise and or resources that we do not have, therefore Christ Point will utilize cost-effective strategic partnerships in order to accomplish its vision.

I Kings 5:1-11 V.6 …my servants will join your servants

2 Chronicles 24:13 …. The men in charge of the work were diligent, and the repairs progressed under them. They rebuilt the temple of God according to its original design and reinforced it.

Intentionality. The Christian life is not aimless. We do not drift toward holiness or godliness. In accomplishing the specific vision God has for Christ Point we aim to be purposeful and proactive in our decisions and actions–walking in the work he has for us to do. Jesus was the most intentional man to ever walk the planet. We will be purposeful in all we do.

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

John 9:4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.
