Welcome
TO CHRIST POINT CHURCH
Pastor James’ Sabbatical
Pastor James will be on a 12-week sabbatical from July-September. During this time James will be free of his responsibilities at Christ Point, both routine and emergency. He and Melissa are encouraged to focus solely on personal rest and spiritual rejuvenation.
The idea of extended time away for pastors is grounded in the biblical teaching of the Sabbath. This is not an extended vacation. It is a time of spiritual rest and renewal. We want to care well for our pastors and our people in hopes of increasing their longevity both in ministry and on staff. James has served as a pastor on staff at Christ Point for 17 years. This is his first sabbatical. We believe proactively caring for him in this way will help ensure personal, spiritual and emotional health so that James can continue to lead and shepherd in a way that honors God and benefits the church for years to come.
Sunday services will continue as usual. Local pastors and Christ Point elders will teach on Sunday mornings. Our ministry leaders will continue to serve and lead well. We believe this will be not only a time of growth for James, but also for our entire church family. We invite you to pray for the Metsger family on sabbatical and our church family while they are away.
